Exhibition Day - Intro to Engineering

The modules below should take place in period 2 after the project presentations and critiques that occurred during period one.  Do the activities mentioned below in the sequence that they are numbered and share all work with Mr. F's email.  As aerospace-hydrospace engineering students, it is crucial that you understand that there are a great many opportunities in the engineering field, today will help you get a better understanding.

1. What STEM careers are there?

Scroll through the presentation below and make a "short list" of the engineering jobs that you think are the coolest.  And would be the ones you would love to work in as a career.  25 minutes

3. Write a letter to an engineer

Research businesses, colleges, research articles, and city employees for people who do the type of engineering that you are interested in and send them a business letter asking for information that may help you look deeper into that field for a future career.  Use the file below with great resources and letter template options for the correspondence with the engineer in the field that interests you.  The rubric that will be used to grade your work is also in the file.  30 minutes

2. Take the STEM careers quiz:

Students should first take the STEM jobs quiz to determine which STEM career field they are most aligned with from their preferences (highlight the link below, right click, and go to the site). 5-10 minutes

4. STEM Infographic

Students will research the field that they think is really cool within the subject of engineering for which to create an infographic.  An infographic is a visual image such as a chart or diagram used to represent information or data.  Open the guide in the PDF below to learn how you can create one and once finished, save the file as a PDF and email it to Mr. F's email address with your name in the subject line.  45 minutes
